PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
We offer basketball for Boys who are age 6-14 as of
January 1, 2012.
Parents -Please volunteer to coach or assist coach. Our program is only as good as those who help us. (Please see Parent Volunteer tab on the registration to coach).
6-7 clinic (For 6 year olds and 7 year olds born after July 1, 2004)
One (1) meeting per week on Saturdays for one hour at Ridge-Ruxton School-Recreation Center or Riderwood ESRC. Teams have a controlled practice for 30 minutes and then a controlled scrimmage with another team for 30 minutes each week. This is highly instructional and extremely fun. Play is on an 8 foot basket with a ball slightly smaller then regulation size.
(Moms and Dads we need you to help coach)
7-8 clinic (For 7 year olds born before July 1, 2004 and 8 year olds as of January 1,2012)
One (1) meeting per week on Saturdays for one hour at Ridge-Ruxton School-Recreation Center or Riderwood ESRC. Teams have a controlled practice for 30 minutes and then a controlled scrimmage with another team for 30 minutes each week. Slightly more advanced in defenses and scrimmages than the 6-7 program.
9-10 in house (For 9 and 10 year olds as of January 1, 2012).
One (1) practice per week for 1 hour, and one (1) game per week on Saturdays at Riderwood ESRC, West Towson ESRC or Bykota Senior Center.
Competitive games, generally officiated by High School athletes. Emphasis on instruction and sportsmanship continues. There are playoffs at the end of the season.
11-12 in house (For 11 and 12 year olds as of January 1, 2012).
One (1) practice per week and One (1) game per week. Games will be on Saturdays or Sundays at Carver.
Competitive games, officiated by paid certified officials. There are playoffs at the end of the season.
13-14 in house (For 13 and 14 year olds as of January 1, 2012).
Two or three practices at the beginning of the season and then games on Sundays and Tuesdays or Thursdays each week. We combine our league with Lutherville-Timonium Recreation Council 13-14 in house basketball which makes for a very fun competitive league. Games are at Park School, Carver A&T HSRC, or Ridgely Middle School-Recreation Center .

Requests to have children “play up or down” in an age group will be decided by Program Director Matt Nuzzi on a case by case basis. Siblings in the same age group will be placed together.
Other special requests (i.e. play with friends, placement for car pool) will not be considered. With the number of registrants and the already difficult logistics of team selection, it is impossible to consider all requests, much less effectively honor them. Participation in youth recreation sports provides an opportunity for each player to make new friends and learn additional social skills and life lessons. We can guarantee that if your child wants to have fun, he will.
Questions may be addressed to Program Director Matt Nuzzi at MattNuzz@yahoo.com
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION-TRAVEL
Travel play opportunities are available in the 9-10, 11-12 and 13-14 age groups.
Towsontowne travel basketball has grown steadily in the past several years. All are encouraged to try out for travel. It is competitive, but offers a chance to learn advanced basketball skills and compete at a higher level. (To parents of 9 year olds: We always have a team comprised of all, or mostly 9 year olds in our travel program, so they get to stay together and they are not competing with 10 year olds to make a team)
Everyone who plays travel must also play in house. NO EXCEPTIONS
To sign up for travel you must pay the $110 additional travel fee in advance on the website. If your child does not make a team or decides not to play, you will receive a full refund of the travel fee..
The Travel Teams will have one (1) additional weekday practice and one (1) weekend game per week on top of the in house commitment (They will not conflict). Program Director Matt Nuzzi selects the travel coaches and oversees formation of the teams. Having no children in the program, Matt is able to be objective and removes the “politics” from the process. The process is fair and efficient. Matt also coaches one of the travel teams.
If you have specific questions, please email the program director, Matt Nuzzi mattnuzz@yahoo.com or call 410-916-1437.
