Boys Lacrosse

Towsontowne Boys Lacrosse
Mission Statement

Towsontowne Boys Lacrosse is steeped in a rich tradition that has produced many generations of boys who have learned to love and respect the game of lacrosse.  In the heart of lacrosse country, we actively participate in the Maryland Youth Lacrosse Association.  We are a volunteer organization, supported by the Towsontowne Recreation & Parks Council and we have embraced the principles of the Positive Coaching Alliance.

Our primary objectives are to teach boys to:

  1. Love playing the game of Lacrosse
  2. Honor the traditions of the sport
  3. Respect all who are involved: teammates, opponents, officials and fans
  4. Learn important character lessons and skills useful throughout their lives

We value the experience of every child, with an emphasis upon:

  1. Fun
  2. Teamwork
  3. Sportsmanship
  4. Personal effort and improvement

We believe that the culture at large today too often overly values natural physical gifts and talents, and wrongly emphasizes “winning at all cost”.  We reject these false values; rather we believe that developing personal integrity, accepting responsibility and building lasting relationships are the true measures of success, not the scoreboard.  Instead, we seek to build a “positive youth sports culture” that will have a lasting impact upon the lives of our children, helping them grow into happy, contributing citizens of our larger community and world.

Our volunteer coaches believe that it is a privilege and a serious responsibility to have the opportunity to influence the development of our children.  We expect them to abide by the Towsontowne Recreation & Parks Council Code of Ethics for Coaches and the principals of the Positive Coaching Alliance.

Of parents and fans, we request that they abide by the Towsontowne Recreation & Parks Council Code of Ethics for Parents and the principals of the Positive Coaching Alliance.

Together, we can fulfill our vision of creating a fun, challenging lacrosse experience for our boys, which will  also support their growth and development toward adulthood.
