GIRLS LACROSSE
FREQUENTLY
ASKED QUESTIONS
Q –
What equipment is suggested? What equipment is required?
A – Players should wear athletic attire. Please
dress appropriately for the weather. It is better to layer up and
bring gloves and hat during the cold weather season start. Cleats
are recommended for all programs except Clinic. A uniform will
be provided for games. A water bottle is also recommended for practices
and games. A mouthguard and eye goggles are required for all age
groups. A player may not participate in practices or games without
this equipment. Your coach can assist you with stick length appropriate
for your child.
Q –
Can my daughter play in an age group higher or lower than her age
group as of January 1st?
A – Our policy is for all players to participate
at their proper age level. Upon request and after consultation
and consent of the program Executive Committee, a player may be
allowed to play in the next level age group only. A player is never
allowed to play in a lower age group per MYLA rules.
Q –
Can my daughter request to play on the same team as her friend(s)?
Can I request teammates to facilitate carpooling? Can I request
a specific coach?
A – TT Girls Lacrosse has over 200 participants.
Our first priority is to balance teams with the appropriate skill
and ability levels. Reasonable effort will be made to honor requests.
However, the program has no obligation to fulfill any particular
request and makes no promise in this regard. Coaches will have
their own child on the team and siblings who qualify to play in
the same age group will be placed together (unless requested otherwise).
The program strongly believes rec lacrosse is a wonderful way to
meet new friends and girls from many different schools in the Baltimore
area. We respectfully ask that specific requests be strongly considered
as necessary before being submitted.
Q – When does the season start and end?
A – Clinic will start in mid-March and end in late
May. All other program groups (Tykers, Lightnings, Midgets and
Juniors) will have indoor evaluations in late February, practices
starting in early March, games starting in early April and regular
season ending in the first week of June.
Q –
When will I be contacted about the team my child will play on?
A – Teams will be formed immediately after
indoor evaluations and you should expect a call or email from your
coach within 3-4 days after indoor evaluations.
Q –
What if my daughter changes her mind about playing after we register?
A – All refund requests must be made in writing
to the Towsontowne Rec Council, 938 York Road, Towson, MD 21204 Attn:
Girls Lacrosse. Because we order uniforms by January 1st, only extraordinary
circumstances will be considered for a refund after this date.
Q –
Are there opportunities to volunteer?
A – Yes. Please indicate your interest in
volunteering on your child’s registration form or contact the
program commissioners. Contact information is located on the Board
tab of this website. TT Girls Lacrosse is a volunteer organization
and cannot be maintained without parent and non-parent volunteers
whose time and energy is invaluable.
