TTREC recreation programming will be cancelled whenever the Snow Emergency Plan is in effect.

INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICIES

Lightning Directive #13:

Upon the first sound of thunder or sighting of lightning, Department staff will direct all in attendance to immediately go to their cars or enter a building, if possible. No one will be allowed to return to the field until 30 MINUTES AFTER THE LAST SOUND OF THUNDER AND SIGHTING OF LIGHTNING.

Staff will have complete authority on any decisions made at our facilities. In the absence of the Department staff, volunteer coaches and officials should follow the same procedure.

Inclement Weather Procedure at School-Recreation Centers and
Separate Recreation and Parks Buildings Directive #14:

I. General Recreation Programs
WEEKDAYS: Whenever schools are closed by snow, ice, or other severe weather conditions before regular dismissal time, all activities (programs and meetings) scheduled for that afternoon and evening inside school- recreation centers and Recreation and Parks buildings will be cancelled.

The use of school-recreation centers and Recreation and Parks buildings for recreation purposes will proceed according to schedule the day following the early school closing, unless schools remain closed because of inclement weather conditions.

Extended closings are subject to the terms below:
WEEKENDS In the event of any significant accumulation of snow, and/or ice after 3:30pm on Friday, recreation programming will be cancelled whenever the Snow Emergency Plan is in effect.

EXTENDED CLOSINGS Programs may reopen when the Snow Emergency Plan has been lifted and parking lots and sidewalks are cleared and safe.
Final operating approval will be determined by the Community Supervisor or designated representative.

The Department is registered with WBAL (1090 AM) Radio. Staff and participants are advised to listen for updated information.

II. Licensed Day Care Programs

A. When schools are delayed in their opening, the opening of the program will be delayed by the same number of hours.

B. When schools close early the program will close with the closing of school.

C. Extended Closings: When schools are closed beyond one day due to inclement weather the program may re-open providing:

  • School driveway, parking lot and sidewalks are clear
  • The snow emergency plan has been lifted.
  • Leader(s) on duty.
  • Parents should call Day Care phone to make sure staff is present before bringing child(ren) to the program.

D. Final operating approval will be determined by the Community Supervisor or designated representative.
